Senior Brand Manager (m/f/d)
The purpose of the role is to develop and champion an effective brand, communication and go to market strategy to deliver value for the pharmaceutical business within the Standards division, playing an instrumental role managing the business proposition and positioning of the pharmaceutical sector.
The Senior Brand Manager will develop and deliver content for highly engaging customer communication, promotional programs/campaigns and sales tool kits for existing product portfolio and new product development launches, to drive/increase revenue through all relevant channels, including local sales teams, LGC's Standards web site & third party distributors. This role reports to the Global Marketing Manager for the Pharmaceutical sector and has one direct report, Assistant Brand Manager.
Lead the development of LGCs external positioning in the pharmaceutical industry including but not exclusive to:
Define and validate the messaging framework to portray LGCs pharmaceutical business in an engaging and relevant way
Monitor and evaluate equity in a competitive context to ensure that the messaging always resonates with the relevant scientific community
Manage the brand strategy, including the brand guidelines, brand vision and value proposition
Define and execute customer insight programs to promote customer closeness and turn insight into action
Lead the planning, development, execution and review of the annual marketing communication calendar for the pharmaceutical sector:
In conjunction with the relevant internal experts develop and execute marketing campaigns and communication strategies which meet the brand strategy
Develop full integrated marketing campaigns leveraging external agencies and central resource
Working with the brand and strategy agency, lead the development of all marketing creative
Own the Pharma marketing budget, making recommendations on the deployment of spend based on sound ROI evaluation of activity performance
Generate go to market strategies based on a developed understanding of customer purchase drivers, running test and learn programs to link insight to revenue growth
Develop communication and sales tool kits deploying internally with impac
Manage and develop the Assistant Brand Manager, setting SMART objectives, and cascading ownership of projects both for their growth and to meet the business strategy
Participation in quarterly sector meetings and other strategic and operational meetings to ensure voice of customer and the needs of the market place are incorporated into the pharmaceutical strategy development
Domestic and international travel - around 25 % - to understand geographical differences in customer needs and ensure the communication and go to market strategy is aligned
Knowledge, Experience and Technical Skills:
Degree educated with a minimum of 6 years experience in a commercial marketing role
Scientific background desirable
Demonstrable understanding of the strategic role of marketing and track record of brand management
Budget management & ROI analysis
Experience of managing agencies and line management
Computer literate with an understanding of marketing automation platforms
Experience working in a multi-disciplinary commercially focussed marketing team and working in a matrix structured organisation
International experience desirable
Willingness and ability to challenge the status quo
Good organisational abilities and strong attention to detail, to consistently meet deadlines
Excellent presentation and communication skills both verbal and written
Fluent in English (essential), German (an advantage)
Ability to influence internal stakeholders operating at multiple levels within the organisation
Narrative / storytelling ability to inspire and excite others
A self-starter, who is able to identify, lead and manage projects with little interjection from senior management and quickly integrate across the business including the development of relationships in different geographies
Agility to quickly move between subjects, passion to seek out new ideas and bring them to life, and learn / develop new skills
Sound creative judgement including the ability to write compelling, relevant and distinctive briefs
The ability to understand complex business sectors (e. g. chemistry) and generate relevant marketing messages which demonstrate the LGC solution
